Vaulted

Works with your existing Bitwarden or Vaultwarden account, free or paid

Extra features.Polished design.

Unlock more from your existing vault.

Vaulted is a native client that signs in to the vault you already have. It adds a security review, duplicate cleanup, tags, linked items and timed pins. Nothing to migrate and nothing to export.

Keep your account. Keep your plan.

Works with the vault service you already use

Free or paid, on Bitwarden's US or EU cloud or your own server: Vaulted signs in to your existing account and leaves your plan exactly as it is. Nothing moves, and nothing new to subscribe to.

  • Bitwarden FreeUS cloud at bitwarden.com, or EU cloud at bitwarden.eu
  • Bitwarden PremiumPaid plan from Bitwarden; not included with Vaulted
  • Self-hosted BitwardenYour server, over HTTPS, including your organizations and collections
  • VaultwardenYour server, over HTTPS, with free family sharing that Vaulted can set up

Vaulted is separate from your Bitwarden plan. Bitwarden Premium and Families are bought from Bitwarden; Vaulted neither includes nor resells them. Vaulted is not affiliated with Bitwarden, Inc.

Your vault stays where it is

Vaulted is a new view onto the account you already have, not a new place to keep your passwords.

  1. 1

Sign in to your existing account

Choose Bitwarden's US or EU cloud, or enter your own HTTPS server. Your master password is used in memory and never stored.

  2. 2

Your vault syncs and decrypts on your device

Your vault data goes only to your server. Items are decrypted locally and cached encrypted with your operating system's protection.

  3. 3

    Add tags, links and safeguards

Vaulted saves these extras inside your own vault, encrypted like everything else, so they follow you to every Vaulted app.

Built on Windows first

What Vaulted adds

Every feature below is built and working in the Windows app, which launches first. macOS, iOS and iPadOS follow with the same features.

Security review

See what needs attention, most urgent first

A vault health score out of 100, built from eight checks that run on your device. Each finding carries a threat score and a recommended fix. Your passwords never leave your device for the review.

  • Reused, weak and aging passwords
  • Logins on plain HTTP, with a one-step switch to HTTPS
  • Missing MFA or passkeys where accounts support them
  • Expiring cards and IDs, and whether your recovery plan has been tested
  • Approve a finding as a deliberate exception and it stops coming back

Duplicate cleanup

Clear out duplicates without losing anything

Logins with the same username and website are grouped, and the differences between them are highlighted. Keep the most complete record and Vaulted copies the others' tags and links onto it first.

  • Side-by-side differences for every duplicate group
  • Tags and links merged before anything moves
  • Extras go to recoverable trash
  • Only exact copies can be deleted outright

Organization

Tags and links go where folders can't

A folder puts each item in one place. Tags let it belong to several. Build one shared library of color-coded tags and filter your whole vault by any of them. Then link the items you need together, like your airline account, your passport and your travel insurance, and jump between them in one click.

  • One tag library: rename or recolor a tag and every item updates
  • Nest and reorder tags by dragging, in sync across devices
  • Links show on both items, and one click opens the other
  • Link any two items: a login and its recovery codes, a card and the account it pays for

Shortcuts

Keep what matters within reach

Put the handful of logins you use every day in Quick access. Star the larger group you come back to as Favorites. And when a project needs a set of items at your fingertips for a while, pin them. They unpin themselves when the time runs out.

  • Quick access: a short list at the top of your vault on mobile, set from any device
  • Favorites: Bitwarden's own star, so they carry over to every Bitwarden app
  • Pins: from one day to six months, each with its own expiry
  • Each works on its own, so an item can be in all three

Safeguards

Record what matters about each account

Mark an account normal, high or critical. Add an expiration date. Note whether MFA or a passkey is on. The security review uses all of it, so your most important accounts are checked more strictly.

  • Importance levels feed the threat score
  • Expiration reminders 90 days out
  • MFA and passkey status for each account
  • Live one-time codes in a dedicated view

Also built in

Share with family

Move items into an organization, choose which collections they belong to, and invite people for sharing. Subscription free, with Vaultwarden.

Import from 70+ formats

Bring items over from LastPass, 1Password, Chrome, Dashlane, KeePass and more. Imports add items; they never overwrite existing ones.

Clipboard that clears itself

A copied password is cleared from the clipboard after 20 seconds, or as soon as you lock.

Automatic lock

The vault locks after a period of inactivity you choose. Everything decrypted is purged from memory.

Self-hosted aware

HTTPS is required for every server. Vaultwarden and self-hosted Bitwarden work the same way as Bitwarden's US and EU clouds.

Security keys and YubiKeys

Use a FIDO2 security key or a YubiKey for two-step login. Authenticator apps and emailed codes work too, and Vaulted only uses your key for the server you signed in to.

Where your extras are kept

Tags, links, importance, expiration dates and review decisions are stored in one encrypted field on each item in your own vault. They're encrypted, synced and backed up exactly like your passwords. Folder and tag order sync the same way, through two archived records in your vault. Only pins stay on the device. Vaulted runs no server that holds vault data.

  • Any Vaulted app on any platform sees the same tags, links and decisions.
  • Other Bitwarden-compatible apps show the field with a notice asking you to leave it alone.
  • Clearing Vaulted's local data on a device never touches your Bitwarden or Vaultwarden records.

Windows first. Then everywhere you work.

Security you can check

The interface is new. The encryption is Bitwarden's documented protocol, built from well-reviewed primitives.

  • Your master password and derived keys are never written to disk.
  • Everything cached on your device is encrypted with Windows DPAPI for your user account.
  • Signing out deletes the cache and its key.
  • Your vault goes only to your vault server. Vaulted runs no server that receives it.
  • No analytics or trackers. Crash reports are sent only if you choose, after you've read them.

Questions

Do I need a new account?

No. Vaulted signs in to the Bitwarden or Vaultwarden account you already have. There's nothing to migrate or export.

Do I need Bitwarden Premium or another paid plan?

No. Vaulted works with Bitwarden Free. Premium and Families are separate plans bought from Bitwarden; Vaulted doesn't include or resell them. Or skip paid plans altogether: Vaultwarden, a free, community-built server you host yourself, unlocks the features those plans sell, including family sharing through organizations, at no cost. Vaulted can set up that sharing for you.

Which servers does it work with?

Bitwarden's US and EU clouds, and any self-hosted server over HTTPS, including Vaultwarden.

Can Vaulted see my passwords?

No. Vaulted runs no server that receives your vault. Your vault is decrypted only on your device, and your master password is never stored. The trust center lists everything the app connects to.

Can I still use the official Bitwarden apps?

Yes. Your vault is unchanged, so every compatible app keeps working. They'll show Vaulted's field on items where you've used Vaulted's extras.

When can I get it?

Windows launches first, then macOS, iOS and iPadOS, with Linux, Android and ChromeOS after that. Leave your email and we'll tell you when it's ready for the platforms you use.

Your vault already has everything in it. Now it's easier to see.

Leave your email and we'll tell you as soon as Vaulted is ready for your devices.
